Conservation Service Project at Camp Josepho

As requested by many of you in Crews 702H 1 & 2, we are looking for opportunities to complete those hours required for the 50-miler and Golden Boot awards. Many of you asked that we find some project(s) BEFORE the back-to-school time and in Troop 22 before our court of honor (2 weeks from tonight). Here's what we've come up with:

Ranger Mike at Camp Josepho has agreed to assign us to conservation tasks -- principally the clearing of some campsites so that we can have more space at CJ.

To plan this well, you MUST LET ME KNOW WHETHER OR NOT YOU will be attending. Please let me know via return email no later than Thursday morning. Obviously, we want enough work to get in a 7-hour work day. But we also don't want to "bite off more than we can chew".

CONSERVATION SERVICE HOURS AT CAMP JOSEPHO

  • Saturday, August 18
  • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Gate code = *8785 (star,8,7,8,5)
  • Bring your own lunch, snacks & water
  • Wear work clothes & gloves
  • Bring eye protection (sunglasses okay)
  • Recommend long (lightweight) pants
  • Arrange your own transportation (carpool!)
  • You MUST let Janice Druez know your intentions to participate (or not) by Thursday (email jjdruez@aol.com)

Note that the requirement for the 50-miler award defines "conservation work" as that similar to that done on the trail, and should improve campsites, portages, trails or the general area in a wilderness or camp setting.
