Whitewater Rafting Trip!!

May 20-21, 2006

For this trip we will take a Sierra South whitewater rafting trip down the Kern river and then head up the hill to camp at Camp Whitsett.  This isn't the same rafting experience as you have done during summer camp!  The water is much higher , much wilder and much colder!

It is highly recommended that you wear a wetsuit.  You can bring your own, borrow one from a friend, or rent one there.  Wetsuit rentals are $15 paid in advance (this is not included in the $60 fee).  The wetsuit package includes Farmer John suit, paddling jacket and booties.  Rental fee due by Monday March 27th so we can get our order in (they do sell out).

In addition to our Troop paperwork, Sierra South has release forms which must be filled out by each participant.  Check out the main Sierra South website for cool info and pictures etc. www.sierrasouth.com.  Please download, fill out and turn in to Bill Megowan the release form below and if you plan to rent a wetsuit, the rental form below.

We need to have all of these forms filled out, signed by parents, and collected before we leave!!  So please turn them in to Bill Megowan as soon as possible.

A Swim check will be scheduled prior to the outing.  Probably at Calabasas Swim Club.  Date and Time will be announced shortly.

• May 20-21
• Whitewater rafting on Kern River
• Camp overnight at Camp Whitsett
• $60 per person for rafting due asap
  • Turn checks in to Michael Henderson
  • Payable to "Troop 22" with "Rafting Trip" on the memo line
• Must pass BSA Swim check for rafting
• Other activities will be available for non-swimmers
• Bring a wet suit or rent one for an additional $15 paid by March 27th
  • Turn in checks in to Michael Henderson
  • Payable to "Troop 22" with "Wet Suit Rental" on the memo line
