Annual Swim CheckSwimming Merit Badge Workshop, andFamily Pot Luck BBQ!All Scouts and adult leaders going to Summer Camp or High Adventure must have a current Swim check (Swim checks are good for 1 year). The McGrew Home (Please park in the street) Saturday, June 7, 2008 Merit Badge Workshop - 8:00am - 11:00 am
BASIC Swim check:All Scouts and adult leaders participating in either Summer Camp or High Adventure Camp need to come for a swim check prior to attending summer camp. If you are coming for the swim check alone and not the Merit Badge Workshop or the Family Pot Luck, then you will probably be done in half an hour. For information on the Swim check click here. DON’T SWIM WELL?You don't have to be able to swim or to complete the swim check to go to Summer Camp... but the leaders NEED TO KNOW just how well you swim! If you do not think that you can swim well enough to pass the swim check, make SURE you attend this workshop!! There will be so many fun water activities at camp! Lets work together to see if you can make some improvement before or during camp. SWIMMING MERIT BADGE WORKSHOP PREPARATION:All Scouts who will be working on the swimming merit badge need to go to www.meritbadge.com and print out the requirements for the badge. This is an Eagle required badge and it is not easy, so you need to practice anything you can, but you really need to study the requirements or pick up the merit badge book. You should also pick up a copy of the first aid merit badge book because the first aid requirements for the swimming merit badge are found there, they are not found in the swimming merit badge book. In order to complete the merit badge you need to know how to treat for certain types of first aid and you need to know basic CPR.FAMILY POT LUCK BBQ:The best part of this outing is kicking back and relaxing with all of the wonderful Troop 22 families! The troop parent committee will provide hot dogs & hamburgers plus drinks. Each family should bring a potluck dish to share:
Bring a folding chair or camp stool with you!We will meet at the McGrew residcne -- Each family drives on their own - Please park on the street. We will not meet at Prince of Peace Church or organize carpools for this outing!!Permission Slip (Coming Soon!)
