Troop Parent Committee Meeting Minutes

October 2007 meeting held on

November 1, 2007

Those present: Mike and Sonia H., Lisa B., Bob C., John W., Barry and Rayna B., Cathy Z., Karen and Mark D.

 

Selection Committee Action: All in attendance ratified the Selection Committee’s selection for the Troop’s Scoutmaster following Patrick Druez’ resignation on October 9, 2007.  Welcome Bob Czubiak as our NEW SCOUTMASTER!

 

Scoutmaster Report (Bob Czubiak):

Looking forward to the new scout year. Passed out training materials to Assistant Scoutmasters and Patrol Leaders to improve their skills and keep them informed and prepared.

 

Joshua Tree/November Outing (Bob Czubiak)- Pierre Bassile is the Outing Leader. Have a prepaid Climber Team. This is an expensive outing. Troop will off set cost and we have charged $20/scout and adults will pay full price $55 for Rock-Climbing. Pack Lunch and might be windy!

 

Piedra Blanca/December Outing (Barry Burgess)- Barry Burgess and Jeff Feldman will be the Outing Leaders. Site is located in the Los Padres National Forest. Backpacking of about 3.5 miles with a 152’ net elevation gain. Might be able to have fire-building skills. No cost to troop.

 

Rancho Allegra/January Outing (Bob Czubiak)- Patrick Druez will be the outing leader and it’s the famous Druez’s Treasure Hunt. Note this is an “Out of Council’s District” and therefore we will need an additional $1 million coverage of insurance. Council will help provide us with the necessary insurance requirements. The Finance subcommittee has budgeted $50 for this event.

 

Communication  (Rayna Burgess):

-Web Site is transferred to John Willauer.

Karen DeJesse will fill -The Calendar position beginning February 2008.

-There are a few Adult positions available. Need to recruit.

Roundtable Report (Mike Henderson):

Past Round table was outstanding. The meeting was set up in a booth format, which had games to training to Commissioner section to a Fireside Chat.

            Re-Chartering Information has all been handed out.

December’s Roundtable’s theme will be “Blue & Gold”.

 

            Web Site (John Willauer):

It’s up and running with a few things to do with Patrol Assignment and up-dating. Patrol Assignments will be posted soon.

 

Outdoors (Mike Henderson):

Summer Camp: Pierre Bassile will be the Summer Camp Coordinator. He is checking into chartering a private bus, the cost is expected to increase based on the cost of fuel.

High Adventure: Northern Tier will have 2 Crews. Still need more Adult Leadership.           

Equipment Coordinator (Mike Henderson):

-Stuart Barney purchased 2 water purifiers for the High Adventure.

-First Aid Box has been re stocked. 

- There needs to be a system for checking out equipment. Shed was a mess.

-ASPL should be in charge when the Quartermaster is unavailable to supervise equipment for the outings.

-Check out list will be created for Quartermaster or ASPL at every outing.

 

Treasurer

Finance Report (Sonia Henderson):

New signature on the Troop’s account was presented and approved by the Parent Committee. New Signer to the account was presented and approved of Mark DeJesse. Troop 22’s account signatories are the following: Susan Feldman, Sonia Henderson, Bob Czubiak and Mark DeJesse.

We have a strong cash position. Collected $2800 in Membership dues and need to pay our Membership dues.

The 2007-08 Budget approved and recommended for approval by the Finance Subcommitte was presented and approved.

 

Popcorn Fundraiser (Lisa Barney): Total Sales $3795.00 of which 18 scouts participated. They exceeded the $200/ scout goal. Great Job Scouts and Families! Early Popcorn pick up will be available by appointment only (call Lisa Barney @ 591-1172) on Sunday afteernoon or kindly collect your popcorn at Monday’s meeting. Don’t forget to turn in your donated popcorn and Halloween candy collected for the Military/ Operation Gratitude.

               

Pancake Breakfast (Karen Dejesse): Net profit of $1500 but this figure is not final. Our success of this fundraiser is due to the scout and their families who help provide their service, time and products. Thank You for your donations: Supermarket gift cards, sausages (Elias Family), flowers (McGrew Family), coffee and centerpieces (Barney Family)

 

Garage Sale (Kathy Zak): Net Profit of $900 but this is not final. As a thank you to our sponsor, Prince of Peace, parent committee voted and approved that Troop 22 will give a gift in kind of $100.

 

Scouting for Food (Sonia Henderson): Need coordinator however we have run this event without one. Therefore the troop will require the Senior Patrol Leader, Eric Skidmore, to assist in sign ups and recruitment for this event on November 10, 2007. Need to set up at 6am.

               

Membership (Sonia Henderson):

The troop is looking great and in the process of re-chartering. We have 77 adults and 46 Boy Scouts currently registered. Judy Soyster has stepped down as the Membership Chair. Need to fill the position.

 

Advancement (Sonia Henderson):

Mini Court of Honor handled by Joy Czubiak which will be held on 11/26/07.

 

Announcements (Sonia Henderson):

 

A party to honor Patrick and Janices long service to Troop 22 will be held on December 17, 2007 at the Calabasas Inn. Uniformed event. Invitations and mailing coming soon.

 

New Eagle Scout Aaron Burgess will be honored on January 6, 2008. Information will be coming soon! Congratulations to the Burgess Family!
