Troop Parent Committee Meeting Minutes

December 20, 2007

Those present:  Mike and Sonia Henderson, Lisa Barney, Sandra Sigman, Bob and Joy Czubiak

Scoutmaster Report (Bob Czubiak):  None of the outing Leaders in attendance. Brief overview of outings:

December Outing (Barry Burgess)  Barry Burgess and Jeff Feldman were the Outing Leaders. Site was changed to Malibu State Park. Scouts backpacked into camp of about 7 miles. Great outing. 

Rancho Allegra/January Outing (Bob Czubiak)  Patrick Druez will be the outing leader and there will be the traditional “Treasure Hunt”.  Permission slips will be passed out at January 7^th meeting and possible will be emailed out too.  This outing will be car camping and fun!

Communication (Sonia Henderson):

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED ASAP.  There are many positions that need to filled in order for the troop to run smoothly. We don’t want to over tax the existing volunteers.  There are key positions as well as clerical ones.  Share in the experience with your son.

Round Table Report (Mike Henderson):

December: “Blue & Gold” Dinner Awards.

January’s Theme:  Cub Scouts = Pinewood Derby and  Boy Scouts= Winter Snow Camping

Web Site (John Willauer):  Not in attendance.

Outdoors (Mike Henderson):

Summer Camp:  Pierre Bassile is the Summer Camp Coordinator.  He is checking into chartering a private bus.  The cost is expected to increase based on the cost of fuel.  Sign ups and first installment due January 15^th.  There are 28 scout spots available.  Camp will be July 13-19^th.

NYLT:  National Youth Leadership Training will be held again this summer on July 6^th week.

Woodbadge Training:  is going to be offered the same time as Summer Camp.

High Adventure:  Northern Tier will have 2 Crews.  Still need more Adult Leadership.          

Equipment Coordinator (Mike Henderson):

Stuart Barney plus other leadership will put together a system for checking out equipment etc.  Shed is a mess and equipment is mismatched.

ASPL should be in charge when the Quartermaster is unavailable to supervise equipment for the outings.

Treasurer Finance Report (Sonia Henderson):

Finance profile of the troop is fine.

Membership (Sonia Henderson):

Judy Soyster has stepped down as the Membership Chair.  Need to fill the position.

Next meeting, Volunteers are requested to help make Welcome Packets, New Scout/Parent Binders.

New Scout supplies will be purchased for our new scouts.

Advancement (Sonia Henderson):

We have 2 new Eagle Scouts in our troop. Congratulations to Parker Zak and Jacob Elias for passing their Eagle Board of Reviews.

Announcements (Sonia Henderson):

 Scheduled Eagle Court of Honor on January 20^th has been postponed.

Eagle Court of Honor - February 16, 2008 - Burgess, Steffen, Zak  will be at 7pm.

Troop Court of Honor is scheduled for February 25, 2008
