Minutes of the Troop 22 Parent Committee Meeting

August 23, 2007

Those present:  Mike and Sonia H., Patrick and Janice D., Mark D., Jill and Perry H., Beth D., April B., Sandra S., Judy S., Scott I., Bob and Joy C., Mel J., Pierre B., Susan F., John W., Bill M., Cathy Z.

The 2007-2008 Troop Calendar was reviewed and the following outing dates were approved:

• 09/15/07-09/16/07 – Backpack at Camp Josepho
• 10/13/07-10/14/07 – Backpack to Fish Bowls
• 11/03/07-11/04/07 – Climbing at Joshua Tree
• 12/15/07-12/16/07 – Backpack at Piedra Blanca
• 01/12/08-01/13/08 – Treasure Hunt at Rancho Allegre
• 02/09/08-02/10/08 – Snow Camping at Camp Jubilee with side trip to Mountain High
• 03/08/08-03/09/08 – Canoe and Fishing Outing
• 04/12/08-04/13/08 – Deep Sea Fishing
• 05/02/08-05/04/08 – Camporee or Trooporee
• 06/07/08 – Annual Swim Check
• 06/21/08 – Mountain Biking Day Outing
• 07/13/08-07/19/08 – Summer Camp – Camp Whitsett (tentative dates)
• 07/27/08-08/07/08 – Northern Tier
• 08/23/08-08/24/08 – Family Campout and Court of Honor at Camp Josepho

These are only the outing dates. The complete calendar was approved and will be distributed during September.

No Troop events will be scheduled during the period of December 23, 2007 through January 2, 2008.

Beginning this year, the Troop committee hopes to have one Eagle Court of Honor per quarter and that families of Scouts having their Eagle Courts this year will “team up” to help ease the Troop’s demanding calendars. Families wishing to have a “single” Eagle court for their Scouts will be accommodated, but the committee is hopeful that efforts will be made to combine Eagle Courts where appropriate.

There are many volunteer positions open at present. Efforts will be made to recruit parents of younger Scouts so they may be more involved in Troop operations.
