Troop Parent Committee Meeting Minutes

November 16th, 2006

7:00 - 8:24 pm, Prince of Peace

Attendance:

November Outing Potrero John Backpack (Bob C)

• Current participants: 16 Scouts, 9 Adults

• Bob looking for troop equipment

  • water filters

  • Whisper lites

  • Backpack first aid kit

  • Check out white cabinet in Barn labeled "High Adventure

  • Contains Backpack 1st aid kits

• Patrick and Bob will work out program for Scouts

  • Barry requested 1st aid skills because his patrol needs these for advancement

• Bob has map and driving directions will email to Carol and Rayna

• Need adventure passes for this outing

• Bob will send final participant list to Jill and Sonia

December Outing Backpack (Barry)

• Los Padres -- burned area closed until summer
  • One possibility is the Dick Smith Wilderness Area
  • Dick Smith Wilderness Los Padres National Forest
  • Rancho Nuevo Trail - Deal Trail
  • Has an option for look trail for older Scouts
  • Borders the open area in Los Padres National Forest
  • Is in a designated wilderness area so probably qualifies for HAT awards
• Rose Valley was suggested, but its popular with local hunters so we will avoid

January Outing Treasure Hunt (Sonia for Patrick)

• Inviting all local webelos patrols
• Reserved Camp Jubilee
• Sonia will work on a flyer for the event

Communications (Rayna)

• NTR

• Sonia's Ticket is to arrange for regular meetings for our Subcommittees

Roundtable Report (Mike)

• Collected Recharter materials

• District Meeting

  • Our district year to date has 38 Eagles with 11,675 volunteer hours toward the Eagle projects!

  • District needs $5000 by end of year

  • District will be visiting units for Friends of Scouting Presentations

Outdoor/Activities Subcommittee Report

• Reservations (Sonia from Report from Marcy)

  • November and January reservations are made

  • Still need destination for December outing

• Transportation (Carol)

  • Almost done for November outing

• Summer Camp (Mike)

  • We got reservations for our first choice dates (July 15-20)

  • Mike will start marketing next month

• High Adventure -- Philmont (Mike)

  • 1st Installment for Philmont has been paid

  • 2 crews, 1 combined with Venture Crew 22

Finance Subcommittee Report (Sonia for Kiko)

• Kiko and Michal provided Quickbooks reports

Advancement Subcommittee Report (Lisa & Jill)

• Jill's Ticket item to make Advancement binder

• Advancement Team noticed some patrols are not advancing

• Suggested giving Patrol Advisors stack of Individual History Reports for everyone in the patrol periodically

• Discussed many options

• Might be good to keep Troopmaster up to date periodically with progress from Scout books not just after they complete a rank because it will provide everyone with a better understanding of what things the troop needs for advancment.

• Decided should be done by Patrol Advisors on a per patrol basis.

Uniform/Training Subcommittee Report

• University of Scouting January 20th

Membership Subcommittee Report (Judy)

• Recharter was turned in at Roundtable
• Inviting packs to January campout
• Pack 22 starting! 
• Jill is gonna be a Den Leader!
• Judy brought checking account info from last Pack 22, gave to Jill

Other Business

• Scouting for Food was VERY short this year

  • bring canned or dry food to this Monday's meeting for Food Pantry

• Operation Gratitude

  • Lisa Barney will collect donations Monday

  • Scouts to bring in extra Halloween Candy

  • Will be sent to the troops via Operation Gratitude

• Spencer S's Eagle Court of Honor December 30th

  • need volunteers

  • need projector for slide show
