Troop Parent Committee Meeting Minutes

February, 24th, 2005

7:30 - 9:00 pm, Starbucks at Fallbrook/Victory

Scoutmaster Report

  • Patrick was away on business. 

  • He sent in his report that all is fine with the Troop and the Program.

Roundtable Report

  • Picked up the Camporee Packet

  • Signed Troop 22 up to volunteer a 2nd event at Camporee

  • We still need to get the date for OA elections

  • 3 Woodbadge courses coming up

    • 1st 30 people to sign up for Spring woodbadge before March 1st will get $20 off the registration price.

  • Our District needs a membership chair and a finance chair.  Either are great involvement opportunities.

  • Mountain Man Rendezvous is coming up in November.

Finance Subcommittee Report

  • Florida payment is due soon

  • Summer camp initial deposit has been paid

  • Tentative Cookie Dough dates are

    • March 7th - Hand out Flyers

    • March 14th - Orders Due

    • March 21st - Product Delivery

Outings Subcommittee Report

  • All set for Backpack Scavenger Hunt Outing

  • Working on April Camporee

  • Bike outing is lots of work but progress is being made

  • Florida payment due soon

Advancement Subcommittee Report

  • Court of Honor Monday

  • Program Booklet looks terrific, some minor changes were fixed

  • We need volunteers to come early for setup!

Membership/Communications Subcommittee Report

  • Pack 333 Bridging was a success. 

    • Jacob did a great job writing and leading the ceremony. 

    • Many Pack 333 Den Chiefs showed up and that was great (Rajan, Eric Z., Aaron).

    • Cubs impressed with older Scouts who helped (Jacob, Jeremy, Andy S.)

  • New Scout Subcommittee is working hard/has lots of ideas

    • Latest New Scout and New Parent Binders are ready for new members

    • New Scout Buddy Program underway, still need more experienced Buddies

    • Plan to reach out to 4-5 nearby packs to support them.  So far Pack 333, Pack 175 and soon Pack 22!

  • Probably will not publish new roster until May Court of Honor so it includes more New Scout information

  • Recruiter.

    • Most families are volunteering in one way or another.  We have great coverage.

    • However Many jobs still need to be filled

    • We need to bring in other parents into the key positions.

    • Currently most key positions held by parents of 16-17 year olds.

    • Next year we have no Popcorn chair. 

    • Positions available on all 5 subcommittees: Outings, Membership/Comm, Advancement, Finance, Troop Advisors.

Other Business

  • Scout Sunday is this Sunday.

    • If you can, please attend the 10:00 service at Prince of Peace.

    • Wear full Scout uniform

    • Please stay for the entire service.

  • Pack 22 is Starting!!  Congratulations Janice!!

    • Judy has "stuff" from prior Pack 22 to present to Janice

  • Cub Scout Day Camp - July 11-15

    • The theme is Survivor

    • Cub Scout membership is down nationwide -- District needs help to make this a great day camp to build enthusiasm for Scouting

    • They will need Den Chiefs to help run the camp.

    • They may ask units to support the camp by running one activity on one day.
