Troop Parent Committee Meeting

Roundtable Report: (Peggy McGrew)

*     Three visitors from the Council.

*     Passed out Council 2002-2003 Planning Calendar

*     Jan 18th is the Las Colinas District Recognition dinner (will be linked in)

*     John Overton is looking for nominations (john.w.overton2@boeing.com)

*     Jan 31st is the Council Recognition dinner (will be linked in)

*     January 10-12 is various training

*     A Scout working on his Eagle project.  He wants people to help participate in his project.

Scoutmaster Report:

*     November PLC had nearly perfect attendance!

*     Promises of clues has motivated more interest

*     Rancho Alegre reserved for January outing

*     Jeff C and Marc D are going for their Eagle Board of Review this week

*     Many more Eagle Scouts on the way in the next few months!!

*     Good outing last weekend.  Food was out of this world!

*     We need to get feedback from ASMs as to which outings they can’t attend so that we know in advance.

Finance Subcommittee Report: (Peggy for Judy Soyster)

*     We will clean up how fundraiser monies and Scout accounts are handled

*     Judy and Peg are working with an accountant to firm up our Quickbooks database

*     No money will come out of an individual’s count until approved by the Parent Committee

*     We reviewed Profit & Loss statement, Scout Account Reports, etc.

Fundraiser Subcommittee Report: (Peggy for ______)

*     Kathy Zimmermann no longer has the time to chair this committee.

*     We are looking for a volunteer to join the Parent Committee leads to head up this subcommittee!

*     Popcorn Boothing by patrol was not efficient.  Next year we will probably booth by troop. 

*     We need a meeting to plan next year’s popcorn selling

Membership/Communications Subcommittee Report: (Rayna & Peg)

*     Rechartering in progress, plan to turn in paperwork at December roundtable or before

*     This year: 54 Scouts, 49-63 Adults

*     Advancement percentage less than 50%

Outdoor/Activities Subcommittee Report: (Peggy for Jerry Seymour)

*     Jerry is working with Patrick on next year’s schedule

Advancement Subcommittee Report: (Lisa Solomon)

*     Next Court of Honor Feb 24th.

*     Make handing out awards at the Monday night meetings more of a family thing.

*     Who should hand out the awards?  Patrol Leaders?  ASM advisors to coach them?

*     The advancement boards are still not updated.  We will start to update these at the Monday night meetings.

*     Rank Advancement should be special.  Scout presents parent with parent pin.  Parents present the badge of rank.

*     Can we make Rank Advancement more ceremonial?  Special equipment?
